Mishpachah, Inc. is an auditioned group of high school students who participate in this community drama/music group. The group’s unique name “Mishpachah” is a Hebrew word that means family. The students that participate in MISH represent different schools and different churches in the greater Cincinnati area.

Mishpachah is a non-profit organization which is is governed by a board of trustees and officers. The group  began as a corporation in 1990, although the group has been together since 1982. Until 1989, the group functioned under the guidance of a church. In an effort to reach more teens and expand the outreach of the group, Mishpachah formed it’s own corporation and has been self-supported since. Although the group is a “Christian” organization,  the group is not tied to any specific denomination.

In the past, the group has performed at various churches, civic organizations, youth events, Cincinnati Convention Center, various church camps, Eden Park, shopping malls, high schools, Six Flags Over Mid America, Kings Island Amusement Park, and Disney World. They have toured to: Florida, Colorado, Texas, North & South Carolina, Indiana, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, New York, Arkansas, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and Ohio.

Since June of 1989, the group has been performing the musical “Dead Serious…About Life” which deals with many teenage issues. The underlying subject matter is teenage suicide. The group wrote the script. The music and lyrics were written for Mishpachah by Mr. Jay Banks.

The group has performed hundreds of shows in various cities. Mish has performed for more than 100,000 people and has counseled over 8,000 young people following their shows. Not only has this ministry changed the lives of those teens who participate, but thousands of others who have had the opportunity to see this production
